    Absenthe and Absente

The Absinthe Originale recipe with wormwood is now legal and available at Whigville!

In the late 19th century during the Belle Ǽpoque era in Paris, the renowned Absinthe culture was at its height of infamy. Absinthe was the trademark drink of artists like Degas, Manet, Picasso, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec and Oscar Wilde. To recall this glorious time, Grande Absente, Absinthe Originale is one of the oldest traditional Absinthe recipes from the south of France. Hand crafted in Provence like it was from 1860-1912, Grande Absente is made exclusively with the highest quality spirits and select botanicals from the region, including the legendary botanical Wormwood, also known as Artemisia Absinthium. Grande Absente is 138 proof so please drink with extreme caution!
    LUCID ABSINTHE

Lucid absinthe is made with grande wormwood, thujone, sweet fennel, green anise, and other fine European herbs. That is what makes Lucid Absinthe the best. It uses only quality ingredients straight from Europe, nothing artificial.

The creator of Lucid absinthe is Ted Breaux. He is an expert in the field of absinthe and he only uses traditional forms of brewing to make his absinthe. Lucid absinthe is made in France and is supplied by the Viridian Spirits Company of New York.
    ABSENTE REFINED

Absente, Absinthe Refined, is a modern version of the original Absinthe recipe. It's still the same aromatic, dazzling emerald green liqueur made from a combination of exotic botanicals.

The only difference is replaced Wormwood, the botanical that caused the initial ban, with a less bitter cousin called Southern-Wormwood, also known as "Petite Absinthe," which allows us to offer Absente in the United States.

Absente, Absinthe Refined , is best defined as a modern Absinthe.
    PERNOD ABSINTHE

From 1830 on, artists took to this elixir in the cafés of Paris. "Green fairy" to artists and poets seeking new pleasures, absinthe became one of the strongest symbols of its era with its enigmatic color and the ritual surrounding it. It is sublimated in the works of Verlaine, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Oscar Wilde, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, and later Picasso.

    How to Drink Absinthe

    - Traditional Method

  • Pour a shot of Absinthe into a glass
  • Place an Absinthe spoon on the glass and set a sugar cube on the spoon
  • Slowly drip four to six parts of iced water onto the sugar melting the sugar into the absinthe
  • Stir and enjoy!

  • - Czech Method

  • Pour a shot of Absinthe into a glass
  • Dip a teaspoon of sugar in the absinthe so that it absorbs it
  • Set the sugar cube on an Absinthe spoon and place it on the glass
  • Set the sugar cube on fire and allow all the caramelized sugar to flow into the glass.
  • Pour the water into the glass, stir and enjoy!
